commissioning capability - information for PCTs
At Oasis, our goal is to improve access to high quality dental
care to the UK population. We are also committed to delivering this
care, with maximum value to any commissioning body.
With teams dedicated to new dental commissioning, we are able to
deliver the maximum value for any dental commissioning team.
Our teams will ensure that we are able to deliver a high quality
dental service that meets the needs of a local area. We work with
commissioning PCTs to understand their strategy and objectives for
any commissioning project, work to develop a detailed understanding
of the local area to ensure we are clear on the type of dental
provision required. Where a new practice is required, we are also
have dedicated property teams who able to identify suitable
premises and manage the planning and building of a first class
dental practice.
Our clinical teams ensure that we have well trained and
supported clinical and practice staff. Practice teams are supported
by a significant 'back office' at our support centre in Bristol to
provide help and support in all aspects of HR, marketing, IT and
finance. Our management structure ensures that we always have well
run and efficient practices.
With over 200 practices throughout England, Wales and Northern
Ireland and with a broad range of general dentists and specialist
skills across our network, we have the capability to deliver most
types of contracts.
When dealing with multiple sites, we can offer the significant
advantage of one point of contact for the efficient delivery of a
new dental contract.
We have recently opened 14 brand new, state of the art practices
in Northern Ireland between Nov 2009 and August 2010, 9 brand new
practices across Cumbria and 4 new practices in Northamptonshire
which operate on an 8 am to 8 pm, 365 days a year basis.
Cumbria - Case Study
Working with West Cumbria NHS, Oasis Dental Care delivered 9 new
dental practices throughout the region, based around an innovative
approach to preventative care developed by the Oasis clinical team.
Every new patient receives an extended 30 minute appointment with a
check-up and to undertake any necessary preventative treatment.
Initially, 5 brand new state of the art practices in Kendal,
Workington, Maryport, Whitehaven and Egremont were commissioned and
opened in 2009 by Oasis bringing in ten new dentists to the area,
four therapists and employing a total of 47 people to deliver an
extra 35,000 new NHS places.
The Oasis team identified all new premises and oversaw the
conversion of a variety of buildings into brand new, state of the
art, dental practices. Following the successful completion of this
initial phase, the local PCT commissioned another 4 new dental
practices in 2010 which were opened under the same model of care in
Carlisle, Barrow, Keswick and Millom.
